As a breeder of Bloodhounds we know our dogs. We like to stay in touch with our previous customers. Many of them continue to send photographs of their pups as they grow. We offer all Bloodhound breed information to you below, showing you, we are an up-front breeder.
The Bloodhound were around long before Christianity. No one knows for sure the way the name came to be, but historians feel that BlueBloods, or the
aristocratic society were among the few to own Bloodhounds.
Bloodhounds are considered to be the first of the PURE blooded hounds.
The Bloodhound has never been used as an attack animal and is used to track lost people by entrapping their scent in the wrinkles about its head and neck. As with all dogs, the bloodhounds should always be socialized with people at a very young age.
The Bloodhound are clean dogs that tend to drool. Their very smooth coat is easy to maintain and their toe nails should be clipped weekly. As with any dog with long ears they should be cleaned weekly. You would maintain the dog similar to the way you treat yourself.
Inverted eyelids has been known to be seen in some Bloodhounds. The Bloodhound water intake needs to be controlled as they can get a gastric torsion (bloat) which can cause other problems. Its best to avoid soy products, as they cause gas. Good nutrition is essential. Give the Bloodhound two or more smaller meals instead of one large one. Exercise should always be limited right after any meal.
The Bloodhound is a large dog, weighing more than 100 pounds (45kg.). It requires some space to move around. Their height is 23-27 inches (58-68 cm).
Coat colors are black and tan, clear red or liver and tan. A small amount of white on the toes or chest is allowed. This breed is registered with major kennel clubs such as American Kennel Club (AKC), Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) and The Kennel Club of Great Britain (KC).
Puppy owners have been completely satisfied with the health, temperament, adaptability and overall quality of their puppies. They grow to be a great tracker or an affectionate family pet.
At Warden's Dixie Bloodhounds,
we are known for our good, reliable reputation.

We are located in the heart of South Alabama, just outside of Dothan. We offer service after your purchase. We enjoy talking about our puppies, your puppies, and most anything you can think of that relates to Bloodhounds.
Our goal is to provide potential Bloodhound owners with a
healthy, happy, high quality Bloodhound puppy
at a reasonable price.
Our adults have all been raised here at our home. They are our family. My wife and I do not have real children, so...the Bloodhounds ARE OUR CHILDREN.
Their names are Rebel, Mr. Bojangles, Suellen, Millie, Claire, Georgia and Lillian. Oh yeah, they have fancy title names but we go by first names around here.
We have RED's as well as BLACK-N-TAN's. Some have Championship Titles
in their pedigrees while others do not.
All of our Bloodhounds are registered through the AKC.
A Bloodhound is a versatile dog.
It takes dedication to train for man trailing or the show ring.
Even as a pet, Bloodhounds deserve the most attention you are able to give.
Time is the most important thing,
that you can ever give, to your Bloodhound.
| Our Puppies have been placed in new homes throughout the United States and in several foreign countries. While most have gone to people and families who wanted a unique lovable pet, some are placed with top tracking trainers. Others have purchased pups with plans of showing in competition. | |

You have got the real thing, when you purchase a Wardens Dixie Bloodhound! |
When your decision has been made to purchase a Bloodhound puppy from WARDEN'S DIXIE BLOODHOUNDS, you can be confident that you are getting a high quality puppy that has had the very best of care. Quality care actually started when we raised their parents. Proper nutrition and veterinarian care are essential. Personal love and daily attention are most critical to the health and quality of our dogs.
HEALTHY PARENTS
are a must in creating and maintaining,
healthy, happy puppies.
| We spend countless hours at all times of the day and night caring for your puppy. This starts immediately at birth. We think it is important that they know the human voice and the human touch. Once they begin to recognize it, they will soon be drawn to it and will become dependent on it. We play the radio for them. They really seem to like George Jones and Merle Haggard. The pups will often try to sing along, but not in tune. Socialization is a life long process that starts with me, the breeder, and must continue with the new owner. It is the key to having a wonderful Bloodhound. |
| People like cuddling and attention; so do dogs. We make time to socialize daily with all our puppies. |
We will talk about any questions you might have. I will try to explain that these dogs will get real big...real quick. They like to slobber and do not always mind their manners. If you have not told me to forget it by this point, we will make the arrangements to get you a wonderful Bloodhound puppy.
Just contact us by telephone or e-mail.
We have planned breedings throughout the year. We may have puppies available when you call. Timing is everything. It is common for us to take reservations/deposits if pups are not available immediately. If this is the case, your patience is most appreciated, although we know it is tough. It is worth the wait to get the right puppy.
An early deposit will ensure that you get the
exact puppy that you want.
First of all, you will never see one of our puppies in a store window. We do not sell to pet stores or mass produce our puppies. We interview and match potential buyers with our puppies which are like our grand children. We want to make sure they go to good home where a healthy standard of living is always maintained.
Our puppies are competitively priced but we hope that price is not the 1st question on your mind when considering the purchase of a Warden's Dixie Bloodhound. It really shouldn't be.
Remember the old saying;
You get what you pay for. We sell quality.
It is always nice to meet new friends when a customer comes to pick out his or her new puppy. We do realize that it could be difficult to drive to South Alabama.
We offer shipping on Delta Airlines. We can ship to you at any city or country that has Delta service. The puppy boards the airplane in the morning and is ready meet his new family by mid afternoon. I coordinate the flight times and flight numbers with you so that you are waiting for him when he arrives. We have had very good success shipping the puppies and have had no problems.
The health and well being of the puppy
is always first and foremost.
We promise to ship you a healthy, happy Bloodhound that is free from life threatening diseases or any visible problems. ALL puppies are vet checked a second time before boarding the plane. We supply the airline with a health certificate from the veterinarian stating the good health of the puppy.

Veterinarian and previous customer references
are available upon request.
Our reputation is strong. We have happy customers.
We ask that you take your new puppy to your veterinarian within 48 hrs. of arrival. This helps to assure that you have a healthy pup and will help your veterinarian to chart the growth and progress that the puppy makes. Your veterinarian will advise you on the inoculation schedule he or she recommends. It is important to follow these directions.
Take your puppy to your vet as you would your own baby to a doctor. Make their 1st visit to a vet a happy experience even if they just get weighed and a small treat.
Your Bloodhound will be the sweetest animal that you have ever loved. He will forgive you when others do not. He will not second guess you when others do. He will also depend on you for his every need in life. Your time is the most important thing you can give your new friend. We get out of life what we put into it. The same is true with your Bloodhound.
Love it , take care of it, play with it
and spend time with it
Bloodhounds will always love you back!
